Cracked Teeth

There are many different types of cracks that can form in teeth. Cracks can form on the exposed surface of a tooth or underneath the gums. The causes and treatments can vary.

During his endodontic residency, Dr. Crepps received extra training in the diagnosis and treatment of cracked teeth. He utilizes 3-dimensional imaging and visualizes teeth with a dental operating microscope to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

When cracks form in teeth, bacteria can invade the pulp, which can cause inflammation or an infection. Root canal treatment can often resolve these infections. However, sometimes a crown without root canal treatment or an extraction is a better treatment option. We encourage patients to schedule an evaluation with Dr. Crepps to help determine the best treatment options for their teeth.
